1. INTRODUCTION

Trees are an important part of urban landscape. Therefore, community awareness and involvement of trees is very helpful for human safety and saving the existence of trees. In addition, the sustainability of research management on trees in urban or residential areas requires good governance, which is closely related to regulatory aspects, stakeholder participation and arboriculture development. With the implementation of The International Symposium on Arboriculture in the Tropics: Securing ecosystem functions in urban landscape is expected to collect information as well as strengthen the commitment of various stakeholders about the importance of the role of trees in urban ecosystems in order to support the realization of environmentally friendly cities in the Tropics. The International Symposium on Arboriculture in the Tropics will be held on 21 November 2017 at IPB International Convention Center, Bogor, Indonesia. A total of 200 participants are expected to attend this event.

The expected output from the implementation of this international symposium is intertwined networking between parties in the field of arboriculture resulting in national and international cooperation beneficial to Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and the Indonesian Arboriculture Community (Masyarakat Arborikultur Indonesia). In addition, the proceedings of this international symposium will be published in an international proceeding that is useful for writers and readers.

2. OBJECTIVE

The International Symposium on Arboriculture in the Tropics aims to gather information as well as strengthen the commitment of various stakeholders about the importance of tree roles in urban ecosystems in order to support the realization of environmentally friendly cities in the Tropics.

Oral Presentation

Abstract submission

Oral presenter is required to upload English abstracts before 15 October 2017 through this website (please see “Upload Instructions”). Please set up your abstracts according to the following format.

All accepted abstracts are expected to submit a full paper after the conference (deadline full paper submission: 10 November 2017). Furthermore, all accepted papers will be published in conference proceeding.

Presentation Time

  1. Invited Talk: 20 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A
  2. Oral Talk: 10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A
  3. In order to keep the sessions running to the set schedule and to allow possible questions from the audience, it is very important to keep presentation within the allocated time.

Instruction for Oral Presentation

  1. The authors of papers accepted for oral presentation are asked to bring Power Point slides and present their research in a podium presentation.
  2. Conference committee will prepare a computer for presentation, and authors are encouraged to use the conference computer for presentation, to avoid wasting time switching between personal laptops.
  3. To avoid software compatibility problems (MS Power Point), speakers are advised to save their Power Point presentation on a USB memory stick and bring a backup version of their presentation.
  4. Files should be uploaded to the local PCs in the session room during the breaks between the sessions.
  5. Speakers should arrive in the session room 15 minutes BEFORE the start of their sessions to report to the session chair. A proctor will also be available in case you need technical assistance.

Poster presentation

  1. Poster size: A0 Paper Size (841 × 1189 millimeters or 33.11 × 46.81 inches).
  2. The poster board is self-standing.
  3. Scotch tape will be provided for your use.
  4. Use of double-sided tape is prohibited.
  5. All presenters are required to preside at their poster panel during the session time for anticipated discussion with participants.
  6. Poster authors are responsible for creating, preparing, and transporting posters to the conference.

Each poster should indicate the paper title, authors, and affiliation.
